Description

Greenhill Farmhouse is a building of late 17th-century origin, with significant alterations and additions in the mid-18th century. It is a farmhouse with a double-depth plan. The main house is constructed from coursed limestone rubble with a gabled concrete tile roof and a brick stack on the left end. The building has two storeys and a three-window front. A timber lintel sits above the central 18th-century plank door, which is protected by a mid-18th-century bracketed hood. Timber lintels are also above the 20th-century casement windows, and two late 19th-century three-light casement windows. A timber lintel covers a 20th-century plank door on the right side. A one-storey, late 17th-century back kitchen is attached to the left, built of similar materials with a brick end stack. This section has a 17th-century ovolo-moulded wood lintel above a 17th-century plank door with strap hinges. A later 18th-century range extends to the rear, featuring flat stone arches over the windows. Inside, there is a chamfered beam and a mid-18th-century dog-leg staircase with turned balusters set on a closed string.
