Description

The ruins of a manor house, dating from the late 16th century, are located in Hampton Gay. The building was burned down in 1887 and now stands as a ruin. The walls are made of squared and coursed limestone rubble, and the structure has an E-plan layout. The gabled outer wings feature moulded kneelers and hood moulds above two three-light ovolo-moulded stone-mullioned windows on the left. Other windows have moulded architraves, while the centre has three-light chamfered stone-mullioned windows.

At the center, there is a two-storey porch that is crenellated, with a similar ovolo-moulded three-light window above a moulded arched doorway that includes shields in the spandrels. Stone ashlar stacks are located on the left and rear right. The rear and left sides also have similar windows, and there is a similar doorway on the left side wall. Inside, there is a moulded arched fireplace and a chamfered pointed arched fireplace in the left wing. The site is scheduled as an Ancient Monument.
