Description

Old Timbers is a small house dating from the late 17th or early 18th century, likely incorporating earlier fabric. It is constructed from limestone rubble with wooden lintels, and has an old plain-tile roof with brick gable stacks. The house originally comprised two main rooms. The front features a four-window arrangement; the first floor has two two-light casement windows, with blocked windows in the first and third bays. The ground floor entrance, now with a 20th-century brick porch, is situated in the third bay, alongside a large three-light casement to the left and a two-light casement to the right. A 20th-century dormer has been added to the roof. The rear of the house exhibits old casements and indicates evidence of earlier work. Inside, the house contains heavy chamfered beams and two large blocked fireplaces.
