Description
This thatched stable and cartshed, dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century, is located approximately 50 metres south of Barn House in Alkerton, Shenington with Alkerton. The building is constructed from coursed ironstone rubble and features a steeply pitched thatched roof. It is a single-storey structure with three entrances to the stable, each fitted with stable doors and wood lintels. The cartshed has a wide opening, also with a wood lintel. Small glazed lights with wood lintels provide illumination for the stalls. The original four-bay roof consists of principal and common rafters, collars, tie beams, and a ridge purlin. Inside the cartshed, there is a round stone pier.
