Description
Hillside Farmhouse and Cottage is a 17th-century building with 20th-century alterations, located on Wroxton Lane in Horley. The farmhouse features squared coursed ironstone and a steeply pitched roof covered with 20th-century tiles. It has a three-unit plan and stands two storeys high with a three-window range. The entrance is located at the rear. On the ground floor, there are two three-light stone mullioned windows with ovolo moulding, opening metal casements, hood moulds, and label stops. To the right, there is a metal casement window in a stone surround, also with a hood mould and label stop. The first floor has three 20th-century windows.
The cottage to the right is similarly constructed with squared coursed ironstone and a steeply pitched 20th-century tiled roof. It has a renewed stone end stack and features two storeys plus an attic. The first floor includes a 20th-century window with a wooden lintel and a gabled dormer. There is a cellar with a two-light stone mullioned window at the rear. The cottage was once used as a Post Office. The interior has not been inspected.
