Description

Orchard Cottage is a small house that may date back to the late medieval period but was re-modelled in the late 17th century or early 18th century. It is constructed from limestone rubble with wooden lintels, hiding a cruck structure, and features a thatched roof with rubble and brick gable stacks. The house has a two-unit plan and is one storey plus an attic. The front has two windows and a central doorway with a 20th-century rubble porch situated between three-light casements. There are also two rubble dormers, each containing two-light casements, and all windows are fitted with leaded glazing. The left stack has a rubble base. The interior has not been inspected but is noted to contain crucks.
