Description

Idle Hollow is a small house dating from the early 18th century, with extensions added in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of limestone rubble with wooden lintels, and has a thatched roof with plain tile sections, as well as an ashlar and brick gable stack. Originally a two-unit plan, the house was later enlarged. It has a single storey plus attic. The symmetrical two-window front of the thatched 18th-century section features a central four-panel door between three-light casement windows. Renewed two-light dormers are above. A tiled bay to the left is likely from the 19th century but has altered openings. Single-storey extensions were added in the 20th century, one to each end. The right-hand gable stack has an ashlar plinth and the base of the shaft in ashlar. The rear of the thatched roof has two swept dormers. The interior has not been inspected.
