Description

Malthouse Farmhouse is an early 18th-century farmhouse located in Duns Tew. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with some marlstone ashlar dressings, and has a Stonesfield-slate roof with brick gable stacks. The building originally comprised three units plus a subsidiary wing. The main range has a symmetrical three-window front, with two-light casement windows, wider in the outer bays, all with ashlar flat arches; the middle ground-floor window was likely a doorway. The steep-pitched roof features three gabled roof dormers with leaded two-light casements and has gable parapets with projecting moulded kneelers. A lower two-window range is situated to the left, with irregular casements (one being an insertion) and the present main entrance. A similar gable parapet tops its roof. The left gable wall contains a blocked moulded stone window. The right gable wall of the main range was likely originally an internal gable. The interior has not been inspected.
