Description

Numbers 28 (The Thatches) and 30 are a pair of early 18th-century houses, now forming two dwellings. They are constructed of coursed limestone rubble with wooden lintels and have a thatched roof with rebuilt brick gable stacks. The buildings are arranged in an L-shaped range, with two-unit plans. The main wing is two storeys and one storey plus an attic, featuring two-window fronts for each house, with mostly two-light casements and central doorways. Number 28, on the left, has wooden casements and a 20th-century porch. Number 30 has older leaded casements, a four-panel door, and a single-storey bay to the extreme right with a further entrance and casement window. A long wing returning from the left end was originally a separate house and is now incorporated into Number 28; it has two-light casements and 20th-century dormers.
