Description

The Trigger Pond Public House is a substantial building that was formerly sub-divided and dates back to 1693, as indicated by a datestone, although parts of it may date from the early to mid-17th century. It is constructed of limestone rubble with wooden lintels and features an artificial stone-slate roof with both rubble and brick stacks. The building has an L-plan layout and is two stories high.

The front of the building is irregular with five windows, featuring three-light casements on the first floor. The extreme right window has an ovolo-moulded design, while the extreme left window is likely from the 18th century, and the remaining windows have been renewed. On the ground floor, there are three renewed three-light casements, along with doorways in the second and fourth bays, one of which has been inserted. The roof has gable stacks, with a brick stack on the left and a rubble stack on the right.

At the rear, there are scattered small windows, some of which have heavy early frames, and a large rubble lateral stack that bears the datestone inscribed "MAY/1693". A short rear wing extends from the right end and is followed by a single-storey outbuilding range that has been converted into a service area. Inside, the building features chamfered beams, and the bar area includes four open fireplaces.
