Description
Two houses, Williamscot, originally dating back to the 17th century, have undergone alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. The Gardener's Cottage has a late 20th-century gable end and a two-bay extension built to match the existing style. The houses are constructed of squared coursed ironstone, with a steeply pitched, late 20th-century tile roof – previously thatched – and five gabled dormers added in the late 20th century. Blue brick chimney shafts sit on stone bases at the ridge and ends of the building.
The houses are two storeys and have attics. The front elevation has a six-window range, although the Gardener's Cottage is missing one bay on the left. Two entrances feature panelled timber doors with four-centred arches and hood moulds, with label stops. The ground floor contains six two- or three-light stone mullioned windows with hood moulds and label stops, some retaining old glass. Similar windows are on the first floor, mostly with timber frames and mullions. The left return has three storeys of similar windows, with two, three, and one-light openings respectively. The right return has a single two-light casement window above an outbuilding. Some 18th-century casement windows are present at the rear.
The interior of Wyatt's End has not been inspected. The interior of the Gardener’s Cottage has been altered, but retains plain panelling beneath the front ground floor window, along with plain panelled folding shutters with bars, and some old roof timbers. The buildings are included on the list for their group value.
