Description
Blaize House is a late 17th-century building that was originally three cottages and has been converted into a house, with some alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed of squared coursed ironstone and features a steeply pitched red tile roof, with stone end stacks that have brick shafts. The building has a three-unit plan, with an additional lower unit on the left, making a total of four units.
There are two blocked entrances and one approximately central entrance that has a 20th-century door set in a moulded wood frame, with a wood lintel and a 20th-century porch. This entrance is flanked by three-light metal casements that have wood lintels and wrought-iron casement fasteners. The first floor also has three similar windows. The left part of the building features a ground floor three-light metal casement with a renewed wood lintel. Inside, there are four iron tie beams and ironstone quoins. It is said that this building was once known as The Bishop Blaize Public House, and the left part was used as a butcher's shop. The interior has not been inspected.
