Description

Spring Hill is a farmhouse that has been converted into a house. It dates back to the early 17th century, with a later 17th-century rear wing. The building is constructed from coursed limestone rubble and features a hipped stone slate roof with moulded kneelers at the stone-coped gables on the right and rear. There is a stone stack finished in brick at the left end and another stone stack at the rear. The layout is L-shaped with a rear left wing and it stands two storeys high with a single-window range.

The entrance consists of an old plank door set within a 17th-century chamfered segmental-arched doorway. The windows are notable for their 17th-century two- and three-light cavetto-moulded stone mullions, which are fitted with leaded lights and iron opening casements. There is also a two-light leaded casement window at the rear. To the left, there is a 19th-century one-storey service range made from similar materials, featuring a brick end stack.

While the interior has not been inspected, it is noted to have 19th-century shutters, cased beams, and an old beam with a blocked fireplace and bressumer in the rear room. The farmhouse is situated on the edge of an ancient wood and is adjacent to "ridge and furrow" fields that were enclosed in the early 17th century.
