Description

The farmhouse at Baintion Home Farm dates to the late 18th century. It is constructed of rendered limestone with rendered end stacks and has a steeply pitched roof covered in old tiles. The building is arranged with a 3-unit plan and three storeys plus an attic, originally featuring a 3-window front. A 20th-century porch now fronts the central entrance, which is flanked by 12-pane sash windows in flush wood frames. The first floor also has three similar sash windows, and the original front elevation remains. Ground floor casement windows are present, along with 20th-century skylights and a blocked doorway. Internally, the ground floor includes stone flag floors in the original kitchen and storage rooms. A fireplace with a wood shelf, pot holder and a cast-iron stove is a notable feature. The first floor has boxed beams and 2-panelled doors. An original staircase with stick balusters is present, along with a wooden winder stair leading from the ground floor to the first floor. The attic bedrooms feature wide floorboards.
