Description
Brashfield House and Brashfield Lodge is a small country house, now divided into two residences, built between 1871 and 1873 by William Wilkinson. The building is constructed of coursed squared limestone with ashlar dressings and features plain-tile roofs with rubble and ashlar stacks. It showcases a complex plan and is designed in the Gothic-revival style, standing two storeys tall.
The irregular front of the house includes a large central gabled projection that features an arched doorway with wave mouldings, a tall double-transomed stair window, and two smaller windows, all adorned with trefoil heads. The right bay has simpler transomed windows, while the left bay is highlighted by a tall stack above a plaque displaying initials and the date 1871. The left end of the house boasts a large six-light canted bay window, and the rear wing continues with additional transomed windows and gables, along with a circular stone stack in a medieval style. The right wing, now known as Brashfield Lodge, runs parallel to the front wing but extends beyond it and includes stone-mullioned windows and gables.
Inside Brashfield House, there are contemporary oak stairs and panelling.
