Description

The Oxford Arms Public House and adjoining cottage is a public house and cottage built in the early 18th century and late 18th to early 19th century. It is constructed of limestone rubble, partly squared and coursed, with some wooden lintels. The roofs are thatched and made of Welsh slate, featuring rubble and brick stacks. The building has a two-unit lobby-entry plan and has been extended, while the cottage is a single unit.

The public house is two storeys tall with a taller, slated four-window main range. The entrance, located in the second bay, is framed by a 20th-century porch. The windows on both floors are 12-pane horned sashes with stone flat arches, although the window above the doorway is now blocked. A large stack with a rubble base and projecting weathering is aligned with the entrance. To the right, there is a later three-window range that has been significantly altered.

The thatched cottage on the left is built of random rubble and features a two-light casement window on each floor, along with a doorway at the extreme left, all having wooden lintels. The stack against the gable of the public house has a rendered rubble base. Inside the public house, there are open fireplaces in the central stack and chamfered beams.
