Description

Grafton House, originally a single house and subsequently subdivided into two, dates to the late 17th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. The building is constructed of coursed ironstone rubble, with a steeply pitched thatched roof, brick ridge stacks, and end stacks. The plan is based on three units, with two storeys plus attics and cellars. The front elevation displays a three-window range, and the main entrance is located at the rear.

The cellar features a blocked two-light stone mullioned window. The front elevation incorporates two three-light metal casement windows set within stone surrounds, complete with hood moulds and label stops, and one renewed four-light window of a similar style. The first floor has two three-light stone mullioned windows, and a single three-light metal casement, all also with hood moulds and label stops. Three eyebrow dormers, each containing 20th-century windows, are set into the attic. The left gable displays a blocked three-light stone mullioned window, and two 20th-century windows, all with hood moulds and label stops. A bay window has been added to the rear. The interior of the building has not been inspected.
