Description
Magdalen Lodge is a house dating from the 17th century, with later alterations. It is constructed of coursed regular ironstone rubble and features a stone slate roof laid to diminishing courses, along with stone copings. The house has two stone end stacks on stone bases with oversailing courses. It stands two storeys plus an attic and has three bays. The windows are 20th-century 12- and 16-pane sashes, with two-light stone mullioned windows in the attic storey. There is an off-centre doorway to the left that has a segmental arched stone lintel. Historically, John Parran occupied the house before 1775. In 1774, Magdalen Lodge belonged to Ann Warmington, a widow who married Mr. Apletree that same year. William White owned the house at his death in 1858.
