Description
Old Rectory Cottage, now a museum and cottage, is a farmhouse dating from the 16th century, with alterations made in the late 17th century and 19th century. It features a timber frame clad in red brick and has a plain tiled hipped roof with a brick ridge stack located to the right of the center and brick end stacks at the rear. The right end of the front has a return gable that is plastered. There is a sloping head dormer on the left side of the front, which includes a small central half-timbered gable. The building has two storeys and attics, with a single window in the gable on the left. The fenestration is irregular, consisting of three windows on the first floor and four windows on the ground floor, all of which are wooden lead-lattice casements. There are boarded doors to the left and right of the center. The gable displays inscriptions reading "CE 1683" and "WTN 1889." It was formerly the Rectory.
