Description
This is a barn and handpump, located about 10 metres south of Broadlake, dating from the 17th century or earlier and featuring a mid-19th century addition. The structure is timber framed and weather boarded, topped with a plain tiled roof and a slate-roofed extension. It has a hipped roof with an outshot to the left and a lean-to to the right. The left side has a half door, while the central section features full-height carriage doors flanked by mullioned windows. On the right side, there is a boarded corner door with a rectangular fanlight above, and cart doors on the right return. Inside, the barn consists of four bays with an outshot and an unaisled layout, showcasing a clasped purlin roof with eccentric bracing and cambered tie beams. There is a stable in the lean-to on the right, and attached to the right return wall is a mid-19th century cast iron hand pump, which has a fluted and domed top, a curved handle, and is inscribed with 'Warners, London.'
