Description

Lake House is a house that dates back to the 15th century, with extensions and alterations made from the 17th to the 19th centuries. It features a timber frame that is clad with weatherboarding and tile-hanging on the first floor, with part of the structure exposed at the rear right and infilled with plaster. The roof is plain tiled. Originally, it was likely a hall house.

The front of the house has two storeys and showcases two moulded gable ends with bargeboards, the left gable being larger and featuring two tripartite sash windows on each floor along with a glazed door. The left side has a glazing bar sash window on the first floor and another on the ground floor, with a wooden casement window at the far left.

At the rear right, the entrance front has two storeys and includes a projecting cross-hipped wing on the right, which has an exposed frame on the first floor and a large cluster of chimneys at the centre. There is a separately hipped wing to the left with a chimney at the far left. The left side has a wooden casement window, while the right side has a glazing bar sash window on the first floor and a three-light wooden casement window on the ground floor, alongside a mullioned window to the left that connects to a curved passage leading to an adjoining barn that has been converted into part of the residence. The central entrance features a boarded door with a flat hood supported by brackets. The exposed frame seen is not the original exterior wall but rather part of an interior truss, with an arch-braced tile beam.
