Description

Church Cottage is a house dating from the 17th century or earlier, though it was re-clad in the 18th century. The house has a timber frame and is clad with red and blue chequered brick on the ground floor and tile hanging on the first floor, with a plain tiled roof. It follows a lobby entry plan. The building is two storeys high, with a hipped roof to the left and a gabled roof to the right. It features paired and moulded stacks in the centre right, and a stack to the rear left. There are three-light leaded wooden casement windows on each floor, with an additional single light window to the left on the first floor. A boarded door with a flat hood supported by brackets is located in the centre right. A return wing is present to the left, featuring similar detailing. Inside, there are large fireplaces built of sandstone and red brick, and exposed light scantling ceiling joists.
