Description
Stonecrouch is a house and shop that dates back to the 15th century, with extensions from the 16th and 18th centuries, and has been heavily restored in the late 20th century. The building features a timber frame with exposed plaster infill, and it has been extended with a red brick and tile-hung range. The roofs are plain tiled.
On the left side, there is a framed range with a small panel frame, standing on a stone base and comprising two storeys with a garret. It has stack clusters at the top and to the right, with six two-light mullioned windows on the first floor and three four-light windows on the ground floor. To the right, there is a boarded door set in a four-centred arched doorway. The left return also has mullioned windows and a boarded door.
To the right, there is a two-storey and attic block built on a plinth, featuring a fascia board for the first floor and a wooden eaves cornice under a hipped roof, which has a stack to the right and three flat-roofed dormers. This block has a regular arrangement of four glazing bar sashes on each floor, along with a central panelled door that has a rectangular fanlight and a flat hood supported by brackets.
At the far right, there is a single-storey block with a gabled roof, a plinth, and English bond brickwork, which includes two wooden casements. The rear of the building features a timber-framed range with an exposed frame and plaster infill, an end jetty on brackets, and a hipped roof with gablets.
