Description
The Bath House is a bath house built in the early 19th century over a chalybeate spring, with foundations dating back to a cold bath from around 1702. It features two sets of stone steps leading to iron and glass covers over the spring. There is a central raised pairing between the two covers, adorned with elaborate cast iron railings. Above this, a colonnade of ten cast iron fluted columns with plumed capitals and bases supports a stuccoed cornice. The frieze above the cornice bears the inscription "The chalybeate spring discovered c.1606". At the rear, there is a one-storey Dippers Hall, which includes a marginal glazed door and sidelights.
