Description
5 The Pantiles is a building from 1746 located on the southeast side. It is a mid to late 19th-century structure with two storeys made of yellow brick and features a parapet. The Pantiles elevation has five cambered sash windows and one on the corner, all adorned with keystones and flanked by pilasters that extend to the parapet. There is balustrading between the ground and first floors. The shop front from the 19th century includes partially reeded pilasters with Corinthian capitals. It has four pilasters and a cambered entrance, which now has a glazed window. The rear of No 5 also has two storeys; the ground floor is made of brick, while the first floor is tile hung. The first floor features four casement windows with verticals only, and there are two cambered casements on the ground floor. This building is included for its group value with Nos 1 to 7 (odd) and 11 to 19 (odd), which form a cohesive group.
