Description

No. 7, The Pantiles, was originally erected as a private house around 1660 and later converted into a shop in 1768. The building is three storeys high and features a painted wood facade. The second floor has two sash windows with original glazing bars. The first floor has two curved bays, each with tripartite sash windows also retaining their original glazing bars. Below these are two large, curved shop windows, again with intact original glazing. A wide, continuous hood or entablature has been added above the shop windows. The interior of the shop is notable for its cast iron columns. A doorway leading to Pink Alley, on the north-east front, features a curved flight of four steps and an unusual early 19th-century carved wooden trellised porch. No. 7, The Pantiles, forms part of a group of buildings including Nos. 1, 3, 5, 11, 13, 15, 17 and 19.
