Description

Halfway Cottage is a small house built around 1860, with alterations made in the early 1970s. The ground floor is constructed of brick, painted white on the front, while the first floor is weatherboarded. It has a peg-tile roof with end stacks. The house faces east and is situated below the road. Originally designed with a two-cell plan and a central entrance, the entrance has since been moved to the right side. It is said to have originally included an outshut, which was raised to two storeys, resulting in a double depth plan.

The exterior features two storeys with a symmetrical two-window front. The roof is half-hipped at the ends, and there are two 16-pane sash windows from the 19th century on both the first and ground floors. A 20th-century glazed gabled porch is located on the right side of the building.

The cottage has group value with the Halfway House Public House.
