Description

Gatehouse Cottages is a cottage that likely dates from the 18th century, with an addition made in the 1980s. The ground floor is built of brick, while the first floor features a framed construction covered in weatherboarding. The roof is made of peg tiles and has a brick chimney.

The cottage faces north and is positioned end-on to the road, forming a group with Nos 1 and 2, which are set at right angles to the north. It is a small two-cell cottage, with the left (east) room heated by an end stack and a central entrance. The 1980s addition is slightly set back at the right (west) end.

The exterior has two storeys and a symmetrical three-bay front. It features a central 19th-century plank front door, along with two three-light casement windows on both the first and ground floors, with two panes per light. There is a large projecting chimney stack on the left (east) end. The roof is gabled at the east end and half-hipped at the west end. The interior has not been inspected.
