Description
Brook headstone, located approximately 9 meters southeast of the chancel of the Church of St Thomas A Becket, is dated 1781 and commemorates Jane and Samuel Brook. This upright sandstone slab stands about 1 meter high and features a double-shaped head that is finely carved. The left side of the head displays cherub faces surrounded by vine leaf foliage, while the right side features a spoked wheel-like motif. The inscription is in Roman serif upper and lower case lettering, recording the deaths of Jane Brook in 1781 and her husband Samuel in 1801.
