Description
This is a barn located about 10 meters southeast of Hodges, likely originating from the 18th century or earlier, with alterations and a new roof added in the late 19th century. It features framed construction clad in weatherboarding and has a peg-tile roof, along with various brick additions.
The barn has a four-bay plan, facing west and positioned at right angles to the house. It includes a full-height doorway on the west side and has later brick structures, including an outshut on the front left and a rear left outshut, as well as a late 20th-century rear lean-to.
The roof is half-hipped at the left end and hipped at the right end, sloping down as a catslide to the front left outshut, which projects beyond the main building. The outshut is supported by a buttress at the front and features a likely 19th-century plank door on the right side. The barn also has two doors on the north side and a loft door above.
Inside, there is evidence of significant reuse of timber in the wall framing, which includes jowled wall posts that predate the 19th-century king post and strut roof.
The barn has group value with Hodges.
