Description
Grantham Hall Cottages is a pair of houses that date back to around 1600. They are constructed of red brick in English Bond with sandstone dressings and feature an extension made of timber frame clad in red brick and tile hanging, topped with a plain tiled roof. The building follows a two-cell lobby entry plan and stands two storeys high with a garret, resting on a stone plinth and featuring quoins on the half-hipped roof, which has a central cluster of stacks.
The front of the cottages has a regular arrangement of windows, with two four-light segmentally headed wooden casements on each floor, and a central two-light casement on the first floor. There is a 20th-century hipped porch at the center of the ground floor, flanked by a two-light casement and boarded doors in the side walls. The right side of the building has a glazing bar sash window on the first floor, casements on the other floors, and a single-storey extension at the rear right. A catslide outshot extends from the rear of the right-hand section.
On the left side, there are stone mullioned windows on all floors, with a two-light window in the garret and three-light windows on the other floors, all featuring stone cornices above. There is also a half-hipped two-storey rear wing with a stack. Inside, framed partitions are visible.
