Description
Tolehurst Farmhouse is a house that dates from the 17th century or earlier, with extensions and alterations made over time. It features a timber frame clad in red brick and tile hanging, with a weather-boarded return elevation. The farmhouse has been extended with red brick and has plain tiled roofs. The structure consists of two parallel ranges, with the main range designed in a lobby entry plan.
The building is two storeys high with a garret, set on a plinth. The roof is hipped to the left and half-hipped to the right, and there is a moulded stack cluster located towards the centre right. On the first floor, there are two tripartite sash windows and a central wooden casement. The ground floor includes a wooden casement, two bow windows, a small light to the centre right, and a part-glazed panelled door with a flat hood supported by brackets at the centre right. A small wooden casement is present in the garret on the right return.
Additionally, there is a rear wing that was added in the late 19th or early 20th century, which has two storeys, a lipped roof, and stacks on both the left and right sides.
