Description

This is a road bridge over the Upper Medway River, built in the late 18th century or early 19th century. It is constructed of rusticated sandstone ashlar and features a single span. The bridge has a segmental, nearly round-headed arch with a projecting keystone. The sides rise smoothly to the parapet, which has projecting weathered coping. At each end, the walls curve back into circular section terminal piers. The river at this location serves as the county boundary, and the bridge is part of a group with the significant estate village of Old Groombridge.
