Description
Union Mill is a Grade I listed smock mill built in 1814 by millwright James Humphrey, with Henry Dobell as the miller. The mill features a painted brick base, a timber-framed and weatherboarded structure above, and a timber-framed and weatherboarded boat-shaped cap. It has a four-storey base and a three-storey upper structure, with scattered windows and various entrances, including granary doors. An encircling platform made of wood on iron braces, complete with an iron railing, surrounds the base. The machinery is intact and in working order, and the mill is still operational, although it is more commonly powered by electricity than by wind.
