Description
Lime Trees Farmhouse is a house dating from the 15th century that was refronted in the mid-19th century. It features a timber frame that is tile hung and weatherboarded above a red brick ground floor, with the front refronted in red brick with stone details. The building is likely of Wealden origin and has a hall house layout.
The front elevation, dating from the 19th century, is two storeys high and sits on a plinth with quoins, a plat band, and a hipped roof. It has two projecting gables with moulded bargeboards and stacks located at the left end, right end, and rear centre left and right. The windows are regularly arranged, with two four-light mullioned and transomed leaded wooden casements on each floor, and a central cross-window on the first floor. All windows are set in raised quoined surrounds. The central entrance features an arched boarded door with strap hinges, fanlight spandrels, and a drip-moulded surround.
At the rear, there is a wing with jetties at both ends and a steeply pitched hipped roof with gablets and an off-centre stack. A lean-to outshut extends across half of the rear wall, and the rear also has irregular wooden casements.
