Description

This description is for a pair of chest tombs located 1 to 2 metres south of the west tower of the Church of St Lawrence in Hawkhurst. The tombs date from the mid-18th century and commemorate John Springett, who died in 1733, and possibly his wife. They are identical in design and are set on a double-stepped platform featuring an ogee-moulded base, double ogee-moulded corner piers, and an ogee-moulded top slab. Each tomb has simple inscription panels. These tombs are situated next to a railed chest tomb that is attached to the church, which is described in the main entry for the Church of St Lawrence.
