Description
This is a pair of headstones located about 10 to 12 metres west of the Church of St Laurence. The first headstone commemorates John Gurr, who died in 1745. It is made of stone and stands about 3 feet high. It features a raised and fielded inscription panel with a raised segmental head, enriched scrolled shoulders, and a segmental cornice. The head of this stone has a crudely executed design of recumbent putti.
The second headstone is for James, who died in 1766, and is approximately 2½ feet high. It has a simple inscription panel and pedestal shoulders adorned with flaming torches, along with a scrolled cornice. The head of this stone features a cherub's head, an all-seeing eye, a cloudburst, an opening coffin, and a snake biting its tail.
