Description

The stables and hayloft at Old Place were built around 1870 and are constructed of brick in Flemish bond with a tiled roof. This L-shaped building features a main range that is one storey high with attics, including an entrance to the hayloft at one end. The first floor has three Diocletian windows separated by pilasters with imprest blocks, and below these are 16-pane sash windows on the ground floor. There are also two plain doors with fanlights above them. The L range is also one storey tall and includes two paired Diocletian windows and a central door with a fanlight above. Inside the main range, there is a tack room equipped with wooden saddle stands and wooden stall partitions.
