Description

Blackman's Old Cottage is a house that has been converted into a pair of cottages. It dates back to the 16th century and was altered in the 18th century. The building is timber framed and weather-boarded on the ground floor, with tile hanging on the first floor and a plain tiled roof. It features a lobby-entry plan and stands two storeys high, with an eaves-drop to the ground floor and a half-hipped roof. There are stacks at both ends and clustered to the centre left.

The cottage has four leaded wooden casements on each floor, arranged in patterns of 3, 1, 4, and 4 lights on the first floor, and 3, 1, 3, and 3 on the ground floor. There is a boarded door to the centre left and a glazed door to the centre right, both located in a hipped porch. At the rear, there is a catslide outshot. Portions of the frame are exposed below the eaves-drop, showcasing large panels and curved bracing. Inside, the exposed frame and inglenooks are visible.
