Description

This is a house, likely dating from the early 18th century. Originally two cottages, it now presents as an L-shaped building situated on The Green in Matfield. The exterior is characterised by weatherboarding, a peg-tile roof, and a brick stack.

The north front, facing Matfield Green, and the east elevation are symmetrical, each featuring moulded eaves cornices. The north front has a half-glazed door dating from the 19th century, sheltered by a flat porch hood. There are three sash windows on the first floor and two on the ground floor, each with 16 panes. The roof is a Mansard design, incorporating two flat-roofed dormers with small-pane casements. A lower block adjoins the west end, mirroring the appearance with a matching 16-pane sash window. The east elevation features similar fenestration, with two first-floor windows and a disused central panelled door beneath a flat porch hood; an axial stack is located to the right of the door.

The interior was inaccessible at the time of survey.

A brick garden wall, situated to the east of the house, is also included in the listing.
