Description

A cottage, originally built circa 1855 for the level-crossing keeper, is constructed of random dressed stone with ashlar dressings and quoins. It has plain and fish-scaled tiled roofs, with tall stone and brick stacks, including projecting breasts to the right and at the rear. The gables feature parapets, kneelers, and ridge-cresting. The building is L-shaped, with a gabled projection to the right of the front elevation.

The cottage has one and a half storeys and a two-bay front. The ground floor has a single window, while the first floor has one window under the gable to the right. The windows are mullioned with hexagonal lozenge lattice iron casements; two have been replaced with plain glazing. An entrance is located under the gable to the right, featuring a boarded door within an arched surround, topped with a gabled and barge-boarded hood supported by brackets. A one-storey extension, likely not original, is situated to the left and built from matching materials and in a similar style.
