Description
57 and 59 High Street is a house built around 1880. The right side features brown brick, while the left side has a brown brick ground floor with timber-framing infilled with plaster. The left section of the building juts out, supported by beam-ends, dragon-beams, and dragon-brackets, all adorned with a moulded timber fascia. The roof is plain tiled, higher and cross-gabled on the left, with gabled semi-dormers at both ends and a ridge stack on the left. The building has two storeys on the left and one and a half storeys on the right. A large square oriel window on a carved bracket is located on the first floor to the left, with one window on the ground floor to the right, situated below the semi-dormer. There are boarded and ribbed doors to the right, left (for No 59), and right (for No 57) of the ground floor window. This house is located behind the Chequers Inn and offers a prominent view over the river.
