Description

Tudor Cottage is a house dating from the late 15th or early 16th century, originally an open hall house that was altered in the 18th century. It is a timber-framed building now faced with brick and has a tiled roof, half-hipped on the right side, with two tall brick chimneystacks. The house has two storeys and attics, with a 2:5:3 window arrangement. The attic has two gabled dormers with leaded light windows on pintle hinges. A brick modillion cornice runs along the top and a band separates the floors. The first floor has five leaded light casements, also on pintle hinges. The ground floor has two tripartite sash windows and one 16-pane sash with a cambered head. Area railings, attached to a stone base, are also present. A lean-to section on the right side features an early 19th-century doorcase with a wooden weather hood, fluted pilasters, and a six-panelled door with glazed upper panels. The right side elevation is tile hung. Inside the house, there are two octagonal moulded crownposts with quadripartite braces and a collar beam, along with a large curved tie beam.
