Description

The Kentish Rifleman Public House is a building that began as a hall-house dating back to the 16th century, and has undergone numerous additions through the 17th to 20th centuries. The north-facing front, which faces the road, is painted and rendered, but some sections reveal original timber framing to the west and south. The roof is tiled, with a hipped shape and gablets, and includes a ridge stack. A projecting, gabled wing is located to the right of the centre on the north front, with tile hanging on the first floor to the west. The main block's roof extends outwards to form catslides on either side of the north wing. The building is partially two-storey and partially one-storey with an attic, and has an irregular pattern of 19th-century casement windows. Two boarded doors are present, one at the end of the north wing, and another beside the wing to the left. One-storey sections extend to the south-west and east, with the eastern section being long and low.
