Description
Lowyns is a farmhouse that features a late 18th-century front but has an earlier structure, possibly dating back to the 16th century. The building has a coursed rubble stone plinth and a distinctive red and blue brick chequer pattern, along with a plat band and a parapet with a band. It has a hipped plain tiled roof and stands two storeys tall with a three-window front, which includes glazing bar sashes. The central entrance is accentuated by a projecting Doric columned porch, accessed by three steps, leading to a panelled door with a rectangular overlight. There is an insurance mark present on the building. The rear exhibits a mix of casements and glazing bar sashes, while at the extreme left on the ground floor, there is a low four-light stone mullioned window that dates back to the 16th or early 17th century. Additionally, there is a two-storey addition to the west.
