Description
The Wickersham headstone, dated 1794, is located approximately 17 metres west of the tower of the Church of St Mary in Hadlow. This headstone commemorates John Wickersham and is made of sandstone. It features an upright slab that stands about 650mm high, with a shaped head that is carved in low relief, depicting a putti within a cartouche. The inscription begins with Gothic lettering, while the remainder is presented in Roman serif upper and lower case lettering, recording the death of John Wickersham in 1794.
