Description
The south wall of the churchyard for the Church of St Mary is an early to mid-19th century structure. It is built of red brick in Flemish bond, featuring some decorative burnt headers. Where it is intact, the wall has a chamfered cornice and weathered coping made from special bricks. This tall wall separates the churchyard from the property of Hadlow Castle. The section of the wall directly opposite the church leans outwards towards Hadlow Castle and includes a small Tudor arch doorway. The wall is supported by a series of brick buttresses that have weathered offsets.
