Description

The Thornhill tomb, located 15 yards west-northwest of East Malling, is a tomb monument dating from 1854. It features a red brick plinth topped with stone. The structure includes a square pedestal with simple panelled sides, an inscription, and a cornice. Above this is a stepped pedestal that supports a wide vase adorned with a floral top-knot. The tomb is inscribed with the names Anne Thornhill, who died on January 8, 1854, and James Thornhill, who died on July 25, 1866, among others. Surrounding the tomb is a spearhead wrought-iron railing with acorn-head standards.
