Description
The Dumnelow memorial, located about 15 metres east of the tower of the Parish Church of St John, is a pedestal memorial likely dating from the late 1860s. Constructed from freestone, it is designed in the Greek Revival style. The memorial features a tapering pedestal set on a battered base, with a projecting cornice adorned with antefixae carved with palmettes at the corners and acroteria. At the top of the monument is a sculpted Agnus Dei. The inscriptions on the memorial commemorate Frances Dumnelow, who died in 1863, and her daughters. This memorial is a notable example of Greek Revival design.
