Description

This is a terrace of houses dating to around 1800, located on the north side of High Street, Aylesford. The buildings are constructed of brown brick with red dressings, though Nos 56-60 have been painted. A brick cornice with modillions runs along the eaves, supporting a mansard roof covered in plain tiles. The mansard incorporates five flat-headed dormers and five partially-rebuilt brick stacks. The terrace is two storeys in height and presents five window bays, with each house containing a window bay to the right and a door bay to the left. The windows are glazing bar sashes, set within open boxes on the first floor, and have gauged heads. The ground floor window of the second house from the left has been replaced with a similar window, incorporating glazing bars and shutters. The front doors are panelled, with arched blank panels above and impost blocks defining the arches.
